“Truly exciting! A political Earthquake” were among the descriptions today by Helga Zepp-LaRouche, founder and leader of the Schiller Institute, speaking of the “smashing defeat” for German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in the Sept. 6 state elections in Saxony-Anhalt, in which the Alternative for Germany (AfD) Party polled 43.8%, far ahead of any other party. The CDU vote, party of Merz, fell by half since the last election, down to 17.2%. The SPD (Social Democrats) fell to 9.3%. The Linke (Left) went down to 8.6%. The BSW (Alliance Sarah Wagenknecht—Reason and Justice) 5.3% (enough to place in the parliament).
Thus, not just Merz’s Germany, but Europe’s “Big Three” stand repudiated along with Merz, referring to France, led by minority President Emmanuel Macron, and the UK, led by Andy Burnham, the latest of many prime ministers. These leaders have been colluding as the Coalition of the Willing to keep funding and supplying Ukraine as a proxy against Russia, while subverting their own national economies, and all of Europe, with a wild arms build up drive and other destructive policies.
The AfD and the BSW are clear on their policy stance to stop the warfare over Ukraine, and start diplomatic and economic relations with Russia and other countries. They call for resuming the Nord Stream gas pipelines, and other economic basics. On all else, their programs vary greatly in principle and wisdom. You can call it a “mixed bag.” But with over 77% of the eligible voters participating yesterday, the mandate of the Sept. 6 German state election is clear. Their vote is in the direction of a new system of foreign and economic relations, provided there is policy intervention to help lift up the outlook of people, to a higher level of knowledge and reason, to bring about a new system. This is the call to action of people everywhere, to take up this mission.
Either we stop warfare, and we have a new economic and security system in the world, with development as the basis for peace, or we are headed down the short road to World War III, and that means nuclear annihilation. The Saxony-Anhalt vote against Merz is a reflection of, and opportunity for, a shift. …
