Helga Zepp-LaRouche

“Weil es die Schönheit ist,
durch welche man zur Freiheit wandert”

— Friedrich Schiller

Schiller Institute Community Chorus

Join us for our first concert since the pandemic! Saturday May 13, 2023, 3 PM

What started out as the 250th birth-year of one of the greatest composers mankind ever produced, quickly presented as a turning point for all of civilization, with multiple crisis hitting all at once demanding soul searching and bold changes. We look to historic leaders such as Schiller and Beethoven for guidance on how to shape the path to a culture worthy of mankind, and will therefore continue the Beethoven celebration into 2021 and beyond.  Schiller Institute founder Helga LaRouche recently said, quoting Beethoven’s favorite poet Friedrich Schiller

“it is only through aesthetic education, through great classical art that the ennoblement of mankind can occur. It is time that mankind grew into a new paradigm, where the poets and the artists become the natural leaders of the age”

Through 2020 the Schiller Chorus in Quincy, MA continued rehearsals on spirituals and Beethoven’s mass in C and were able to a “virtual chorus” to the Beethoven celebration concert December 17th; Hear my prayer by Moses Hogan put together with our chorus friends in Germany, the Jena Jubilee Singers. Here is the video.

During 2020 many chorus members also joined the New York Schiller Chorus in joint work on Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis, and we have connected with friends of the Schiller Chorus in various places in the US and even Ibero America.

You are encouraged to join the chorus, and partake in rehearsals and events, currently all online, with our friends in the greater Schiller Choral movement! Watch the promo video here.

Rehearsals take place at Christ Church, 12 Quincy Ave. in Quincy, MA, at 7PM on Fridays.

Please contact us for the details on how to join!

ABOUT THE SCHILLER BOSTON COMMUNITY CHORUS:

The Schiller Institute Chorus of Eastern MA is determined to have fun preserving a tradition of beauty and profundity, and be a shining light through a cultural darkness of our nation, where ugliness and mediocrity is promoted and even celebrated. As humanity is now at the cusp of profound change, let this light be the spark for a new renaissance of art and science and a true American humanist culture!

Join the chorus!

The chorus meets every Friday night for the Fall 2022 season and is open to anyone, regardless of background or experience. We rehearse at the natural Verdi tuning of C=256 Hz. and work on mastering the Bel Canto technique of ‘effortless singing’

Schiller Institute Choruses

New documentary just released! Watch it HERE

Founded with the mission to pursue the “common aims of mankind,” the Schiller Institute’s chorus project, which brings people together from all walks of life to share and present some of the most cherished pieces of classical music, has proven to be a powerful means to that end. Beginning in Manhattan in 2014, then quickly spreading to Boston, Houston, Virginia and the West Coast, our choruses, who practice and perform at the Verdi C=256 pitch, are building a reputation for their lively, rich, and spirited classical performances which include Bach, Beethoven, Mozart, Brahms, the uniquely American African-American Spirituals, and more. The best part? We believe that everyone can sing, so come sing with us!

The Schiller Institute New York City Chorus began on December 20th, 2014 at a Sing-Along performance of excerpts of Handel’s Messiah. The concert had been organized in answer to the outrage over the Staten Island Grand Jury decision on the death-by-suffocation of Eric Garner, which had come in the wake of the Ferguson, MO riots, after the killing of an unarmed African-American teenager, and which threatened to create dangerous divisions and violence in the City of New York. The concert was dedicated to “The Sanctity of Every Human Life.”

The Schiller Institute Boston Community Chorus is most proud of its concerts dedicated to important historical events and individuals, such as the 2014 performance of Mozart’s Requiem dedicated to John F. Kennedy at Boston’s Cathedral of the Holy Cross, as well as the 2017 Tribute to Sylvia Olden Lee, which featured soloists such as Washington DC-area tenor, Reginald Bouknight and well-known bass, Kevin Thompson.

Known for unique performances of choral classical literature and African-American Spirituals, the Schiller Boston Chorus, has sung at beautiful venues such as New York’s Carnegie Hall and Boston’s St. Mary Episcopal Church, and currently has a home at Christ Church in Quincy, Massachusetts, where it continues to grow.

Virginia Community Chorus

va-full

The Schiller Institute chorus of Northern Virginia is a lively group of singers dedicated to sharing the beauty and power of Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, the great American composers of the African American Spirituals, and other great classical works. We practice the bel canto method of singing, and rehearse and perform at the lower, Verdi C=256 tuning allowing a greater number of voices to more easily meet the vocal demands of each piece & composer.
