“A Concert for Freedom: African American Spirituals”

This special concert is part of a four-part series commemorating slavery and abolition in Rhode Island on the 400th anniversary of slavery in America.
The Schiller Boston Community Chorus is committed to performing African-American spirituals in keeping with the tradition of Hall Johnson, H.T. Burleigh and other African American composers, who dedicated their art and work to uplifting their people – and all people – and continue the fight for true freedom – freedom to strive for creative ennoblement, freedom to be truly human.
